| Introducing the TeamLife! Captain: Trish “the fish” Hanson. Trish Hanson has been a life-long athlete spending most of her life in the water as a swimmer in high school and then as an NCAA college swimmer. Soon after graduating, this collegiate athlete still craved competition thus she began running. After her first 5k race she wondered, as many of us do, if she could run a 10k, then a 10miler, then a half marathon (you get the point.). A friendly family challenge lead Trish to her first triathlon and she immediately fell in love with the sport. Since joining Team Life, Trish has racked in more age group awards from first to third at numerous duathlons and triathlons. She wears her accomplishments proudly, modestly, and is not defined by them. “Being part of a team has always been important to me” resonates with this former Bay Ridge athlete. Her commitment transcended into a sizable commute from Jersey attending almost all trainings and competing in mandatory Team Life races, again demonstrating passion for the sport and her compassion for her team mates. “A team encourages you. They help you through a tough work-out or the last mile of a race. They understand why you get up at 5:30 am to go out for a 2 hour ride or run. They become some of your closest friends. I joined Team Life and found a team that inspires me to continue pursuing endurance sports”. So when I sent out the email about becoming a captain, guess who immediately asked for the reigns and responsibility while she was in the midst of her own personal marathon training? Trish is eager to support and encourage others putting her own statistics aside. She continues to grow with triathlon and I see the eventual Ironman on her horizons. I look forward to what she brings to the team and what she brings out in others. It is going to be our pleasure to have her as Team Captain. |
